Work Diary - Depth

Evaluation

It was difficult to shoot photos of depth because in order to achieve the effect, you need to angle the camera lens the right way, so we are able to see as much of the object closely, as we are further away. I also needed to find objects, or buildings which would display the idea of depth well, which was also difficult. However, i enjoyed taking photographs from this perspective because i was able to shoot photographs of any object or surface that i could find, also i just generally like taking photos like this.

I think the photograph above is the best one that I captured because the depth of the wall is so clear and obvious, we are able to identify an evident difference of width from the foreground to the background, where the wall appears narrower the further away from the camera it is. Due to the individual lines in the wall, we are able to see that they are all spread out evenly when nearest to the camera, but looking further away, they appear much closer.

I think this image is my worst photo that I took because it doesn't show a clear difference between the width of the stairs close to the camera, compared to the steps that are further away. So it doesn't completely show the depth of the staircase.

Progression

If i was going to take more photos for this topic, I would attempt to use objects as a way of showing depth by having lots of the same object lined up, and taking the photograph at a perspective which will identify the difference in size between the object that is closest to the camera lens, compared to the one that is the furthest away.  I also want to experiment with other perplexing angles which initiate the depth in photographs, i like the style of this photography and would like to try and attempt the challenges of it. These are some of the Depth photographs that i have found on the internet which i aspire to achieve if i ever add to this topic:
