Work Diary - Form

Evaluation

My first attempt at shooting photos for the topic "Form" went quite badly because there wasn't enough sunlight to create the shadows that I needed. However, the second attempt went much better because the sun was out and there were a lot of shadows created by buildings, objects, nature as well as various other things that I could take photos of. I think this topic was the most enjoyable because the photos are so interesting as you see the actual object (for example) in the image, as well as its formation and outline, that has been created by it's shadow. When taking photographs, I literally took photos of every shadow I saw, which benefited my work because the result meant I had lots of photographs to choose from. I also attempted to take a portrait photograph to portray the human form, by showing the shadows that are created by somebody's facial features.

Personally, I believe that the image above is the best photo that I took. This is because it clearly represents the formation of the subject of the image. Here, we can see that I have taken a photograph of path rail, so we are able to see the actual rail itself, but also, we are able to see it's shadow. In it's shadow we are able to see it's formation and structure.

This photograph I believe is the worst photo I took. One of the main reasons for this is that this photo has come from the set from my first attempt at taking images for this topic, where there wasn't much sunlight to create shadows. There is a shadow in this image, but it isn't very obvious. Also, I wasn't able to fit the entire lamppost in the image, so we aren't able to see what object has formed and created that shadow.

Progression

If I were to carry on with this topic I would continue to produce photographs that display well-defined shadows, as well as the object that has created them, so we are able to see it's true structure being replicated into it's shadow. Also, I would attempt to take photos of the shadows that buildings make, by finding a place where I am able to take a photograph on a large scale so i am able to include the building in the image. These are some of the Form photographs that i have found on the internet which i aspire to achieve if i ever add to this topic:
