Work Diary - Colour

Evaluation

I enjoyed taking photographs of colour because there are so many variations and shades of each individual and unique colour that I could explore. However, it was difficult to show the colour of objects without causing distraction in the photo by showing too much of what the object was. It was difficult to make colour the main focus of the image. I also liked exploring the idea of showing two colours together in one photo.

I think the photo above is the best photo I took because it shows the colours pink and orange, but also the shade white which separates the two. Both colours are vibrant and bold. I like this photo because all attentions are on the two colours, as there aren't any distractions - nor do we know what the photo is actually of.

I believe this image is the worst image that I took, because although it shows variety and differentiation of colour, it is extremely boring and unattractive. Clearly, this photo is of a brick wall, made of different types/coloured bricks. Due to the colours of the bricks being so dull, the image itself is also bland.

Progression

If I was going to continue with taking photographs of colour, I would pay more attention to the variety of colour that I can explore, by taking images of different shades of colour and in different lighting. Also, I would attempt to produce more interesting photos, by showing the colour of an object from different angles (i.e. close-up, from afar etc.) I would like to portray the vibrancy and intensity of colours throughout my photos, and so i would have to take more photos and in different places to find these colours, naturally and maybe also capture colour artificially too (like in paint, pencils etc.) These are some of the Colour photographs that i have found on the internet which i aspire to achieve if i ever add to this topic:
