Work Diary - Pattern

Evaluation

I found it quite easy to take photographs of patterns because they are obviously and literally everywhere. I took photographs of both natural and artificial patterns because I wanted an even variety of the two. Despite finding this topic fairly easy, I did struggle with making the pattern of an object look like the main focus in the photo.

The photo above is my best photo for the topic of pattern, because it displays both the pattern of the shadow and light, as well as the brick wall. In the background, we are able to see that there is a distinct design of the bricks, forming the brick wall. But, we are also able to see the pattern of lines in the light and shadows that have been reflected onto it. It is obvious that this photo is representing the concept of pattern.

I think this photo is the worst photo that I took for this topic because the main subject was initially the pattern of the choker, but I wasn't able to zoom in far enough to show it up close, so now other things are shown in the photo as well. This means that we aren't concentrating on the choker's pattern, instead we are looking at everything that can be seen.

Progression

If i was planning to shoot more photos for the topic of pattern, I would try to find more unusual patterns that occur naturally, artificially or just by accident, instead of just taking photos of patterns that are obvious and easy to find. Such as, the patterns that shadows create, or the patterns within nature like trees, leaves and flowers. I would also try to find patterns that are repetitive throughout streets, which would be familiar to people, yet remind them that they've never actually noticed it. Also, I would make sure that it is evident that the image is representing the concept of pattern. These are some of the Pattern photographs that i have found on the internet which i aspire to achieve if i ever add to this topic:
