Definition Post - Movement

Definition of "Movement" - The act or an instance of moving; a change in place or position.

Adjectives to describe and/or relate to the word "Movement" - Slow, Fast, Quick, Motion, Position, Place, Hurry, Lazy, Rush, Leisure, Speed, Agile, Swift, Lift, Blur, Small, Big, Shift.

These are the images I have chosen to represent this post. The first is from a collection by Eadweard Muybridge, who is known for taking images like this. It shows the extreme detail of each point of movement, as it is a series of images which display each stage and position the horse is at, he also does this with people too. I chose the second image because it displays the movement of the photographer, as in this image, the photographer has moved the camera so the photo has been taken blurry. Therefore, we can see the people and background as blurred, and so it represents the act of movement. I particularly like the third photograph because it has been taken of two people, but one is standing still, and the other has moved slightly when the photo was being taken. So, in this image the person moving is blurred, whereas the other person is in focus and clear, which helps clearly identify what the photo is about because we can see the difference. Lastly, despite this image looking like a complete blur, it definitely portrays movement because we can see two people running, and by assuming that they are running at quite a fast speed, we can tell that the blur of the photo represents their movement. I also like how the two people are only seen as silhouettes.

My own definition of Movement - The action in which someone or something changes from one position to another.
