Work Diary - Texture

Evaluation

In order to take photographs of texture, the sun needed to be out to form shadows, and therefore display texture as effectively as possible. Whilst taking these photographs, the sun was quite shady at some stages, but then bright at other times, so I did get some good shots during this session. It was slightly difficult to take photographs of texture because the sun has to be in the photo, in order to create the shadows, which means the photo may be quite bright and intense. However, I did enjoy exploring the different types of texture within buildings, nature, pavements etc.

The photo above is my favorite and best photo because it is so bright and intense with colour, and this enhances the texture of the leaves. I like that the sun is directly shining upon the leaves, and so we can see the texture in both bright and dark lighting.

This image is the worst photo I took during the session because the sun wasn't very bright and therefore, makes the photo look slightly dull and bland. Due to the sun not being bright enough, there isn't any shadows in this photo, which is why the texture isn't so obvious. Although we can slightly see the texture of the wooden panel, it isn't as evident as it could be,

Progression

If I were to re-do, or continue with this texture shoot, I would make sure that the sun was shining bright and present in every photo, to create the right shadows in order to represent texture well in the images. Also, I would try to find more variety of textures within different environments, which would make the range of images more interesting and different from each other. These are some of Texture photographs that i have found on the internet which i aspire to achieve if i ever add to this topic:
